The parish of Żelechów was erected at the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries. In 1692, a great fire broke out in the town, from which two paintings (of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Stanislaus the Bishop and Martyr) and some liturgical vessels and apparatus survived. The new church was consecrated in 1736 and received its invocation owing to the painting of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary miraculously saved from the fire. The expansion of the church began in 1889. As a result of the extensive reconstruction, the church received a neo-Baroque decoration, and its altars received a classicist setting. The building is listed in the register of monuments (reg. no. A-51/261).
